SAJOMA

San José de las Matas (SAJOMA), the largest municipality in the Santiago province, is one of the healthiest and cleanest cities in the Dominican Republic. It has a tropical climate with an average annual temperature of 23.8 degrees Celsius. The economy of SAJOMA is centered around the production of agriculture, furniture and livestock as well as a booming ecotourism industry.

Monción

The municipality of Monción is characterized by its unique topography. The land is made up of mountains, forests, hills and valleys and has a humid tropical climate with an average temperature of 25 degrees Celsius. Agricultural and livestock production are prevalent, as well as Cassava production and fishing.

Sabana Iglesia

Sabana Iglesia has a tropical climate with an average annual temperature of 25.2 degrees Celsius. The summer months are rainy while in the winter the temperature can reach 4.6 degrees Celsius. Fishing, agricultural and livestock production, and ecotourism are staples of the economy.

Jánico

Jánico, famous for its coffee production, is the municipality west of SAJOMA. Sharing SAJOMA’s mountainous landscape and tropical climate, this city’s economy is also largely centered on agricultural production and livestock. The Jagua and Bao rivers pass through the area, and the average temperature is 24.6 degrees Celsius with an annual precipitation measure of 1159mm.
